Soil health is critical to food security across Africa, where land degradation and nutrient deficiency threaten agricultural productivity. To address this, CSM Tech partnered with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Agricultural Transformation Agency (ATA) of Ethiopia to develop Ethiopia’s National Soil Information System (NSIS). The platform consolidates geospatial soil survey data, laboratory testing, mapping, and agronomic recommendations into a single digital system.

By digitising the EthioSIS initiative, NSIS enables evidence-based land-use planning, fertiliser recommendations, and sustainable farming practices across diverse agro-ecological zones in Ethiopia.
